The Westport PAL seventh-grade boys basketball team got off to a slow start Sunday, and it proved costly as Danbury White raced to a 63-34 victory. Danbury started the game with an 8-0 run. Westport got close several times in the first half, but Danbury's defense bothered Westport all game and put the game away in the second half. Jared Vishno and Jackson Ward scored five points apiece for Westport, which slipped to 9-6 overall and 6-3 in the Fairfield County Basketball League. The loss stopped a three-game league winning streak for the Westport boys, who return to action Thursday with a non-league game against New Canaan. They also meet the Westport YMCA on Friday.
