Westport 7th-Grade Boys Rally Past St. Mary's

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Police Athletic League 7th-grade boys basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit with less than five minutes remaining to defeat St. Mary’s of Ridgefield, 56-53, in the Fairfield County Basketball League.

Westport improved to 12-6 overall and stands at 6-2 in the A Division of the league.

Mack Muller, Ben Casparius and Sean Pritchett each scored in double figures in the win over Ridgefield, and also provided strong defense. Justin Seideman played an all around floor game, contributing several baskets, assists and steals.  Kenny Brill, Ryan Fitton, Brendan Massoud and Fritz Schemel all added points during the frantic late fourth quarter rally.

Cayne Mandell and Matty Fair played key defensive roles, also helping to steady the squad with smart passes, assists and rebounds.

With three games this weekend, Westport PAL 7B faces its toughest stretch of the season.  Westport will host New Canaan Black on Friday and plays in a doubleheader on Sunday against Danbury and the Carver Center of Norwalk.
