Westport 6th Graders Face Off in Playoffs

WESTPORT, Conn -- The Wrecker 6 North team met its toughest opponent of the year on Saturday as they were able to just edge the six graders from the South in a 6–0 win.

The stout South defense did not give an inch of turf away without a fight. To compound the issue, the North had to find yardage without one of their main ground gainers, Brandon Adrian. The South opened up with a drive that lasted nearly the entire first quarter before the North defense buckled down and got the ball back on downs.

The North started a drive of their own in the second quarter with Clayton Crouch, Harris Levi and Max Lonergan producing large gains on the ground. Levi culminated the drive by crossing the goal line on an eight-yard gain off left tackle. He was sent into the end zone behind the solid blocking efforts of Robert Wehmhoff, William Grotto, Owen Skinner, Jackson Valente and Ian Cooney.

The South gave the North defense a run for its money. Andrew Warshavsky, Jack Beck, Shane Rabacs, Lucas Henderson and Max Papas recorded tackles chasing down the speedy South rushers. The defensive line was able to close the gaps in the middle with fine blocking efforts by Trevor Williams and Ryan Burg while Alec Burns and Jasper Fowle bolted off the line of scrimmage producing sacks for big losses.
