DARIEN, Conn. In its 12-6 victory, the Westport 6 North football team gave up a quick six points to Darien in the first quarter. But then its defense buckled down and subdued the Darien offense to three and outs for the rest of the game.
Harris Levi forced a fumble in the second quarter that Owen Skinner pounced on to close the first half. Robert Whemhoff, Ian Cooney, Alec Burns and Jasper Fowle dominated the line of scrimmage, rendering half of the Darien playbook ineffective.
Westport got on the board early in the third quarter as Max Lonergan put up a jump ball that Clayton Crouch acrobatically tipped into his hands before racing for the end zone. Credit the offensive line of Lucas Henderson, Jackson Valente and William Grotto with providing the necessary protection. Later in the fourth, the Wreckers struck again when Lonergan hooked up on a long pass to Jack Beck.
