WESTPORT, Conn - If blocking is the gas that makes an offense go, then the Westport 6 North linemen were pumping rocket fuel on Sunday. The young Wreckers blew past Norwalk 20-7.
Westport runners found wide open lanes all day long, created by the blocking of Robert Wehmhoff, Jackson Valente, Owen Skinner, Ryan Burg, Lucas Henderson and William Grotto. The Wreckers found paydirt three times before the end of the first half.
Brandon Adrian scored first after finding a hole off the right side on third and goal. Westport scored again in the second quarter as Jack Beck hooked up with Max Lonergan on a crossing route in the back of the end zone. Clayton Crouch added two as he booted the extra point.
The Wreckers would score one more time before the half as Lonergan aired it out to Harris Levi for a 40-yard touchdown.
The Wrecker defense shutout Norwalk in the second half as Alec Burns recorded a big tackle in the backfield for a five-yard loss. Andrew Warshavsky, Trevor Williams, Jasper Fowle, Shane Rabacs and Max Pappas hunted down runners sealing the Wrecker win.
