WILTON, Conn. A gutty performance by the 6th Grade North Wreckers came within inches of getting off the field with a tie but fell short in the final seconds with a 7-0 loss. The defense came up big, denying Wilton any room to run. The only score came from a Wrecker turnover in the third quarter.
The defense pounded Wilton with tackles in the backfield by Alec Burns and Owen Skinner. Max Pappas joined the fun with a sack for an 8-yard loss. The defense swarmed Wilton with open field tackles by William Grotto, Trevor Williams, Jack Beck, Ian Cooney, Andrew Warshavsky and Shane Rabacs.
Westport started a long drive in the last minutes of the game with Clayton Crouch and Harris Levi finding running lanes behind the blocking of Robert Wehmhoff, Jackson Valente, Jasper Fowle and Ryan Burg. Max Longergan converted a fourth-and-one to get the ball down to the Wilton seven. Westport took its shots at the goal line, but the Wilton squad held firm.
