WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport PAL fifth-grade girls basketball team will take an 18-0 record into the Fairfield County Basketball League playoffs beginning Friday in Weston.

Westport will meet Shelton in its opening game of the tournament at 6:20 p.m. at Weston Middle School.

Westport went 11-0 in league games and 7-0 in non-league contests. Westport will need to win three games this weekend to advance to the championship game of the league tournament next weekend in Danbury.

Westport is coached by Karen Puskas, and its trademark is defense. The girls have held opponents to 10 points or less in nine games this season. 

Westport beat Shelton, 19-17, Jan. 25 in its most competitive game of the season.
