Weston's First Half-Marathon Set For Sunday

WESTON, Conn. – Runners will tackle Weston’s delayed first half-marathon on Sunday. The 13.1-mile Reservoir Run, which starts and finishes at Weston High School, will proceed over rolling terrain through the Weston countryside, including4 miles beside the Saugatuck Reservoir.

By Thursday, 372 runners had signed up, according to Don Gary, president of the Weston Kiwanis Club and co-chair of the race. He predicted up to 500 will run. Entry fee is $65 on race day.

The race will be chip-timed and include six water stations. Top male and female finishers will get $150 gift certificates to Sports Authority, and awards will be presented to the top finishers in all age groups at a post-race ceremony.

Proceeds from the race will benefit three charities, including Purple Heart Homes, which provides housing for disabled veterans. Two Connecticut veterans who are being assisted by the charity will attend the race, including Manny Jiminez, who will run it.
