WESTON, Conn. The Weston Wildcats 10-and-under tennis team won its second straight state tournament in a competition last month in West Hartford.
The team of Prem Dave, Olivia Wen, Vivian Wen, Alexander Visser and Spencer Chandlee plays out of the Weston Racquet Club. Weston also won the tournament in 2011 in the 8-and-under age division. The team is coached by Alex Kantarelis.
Weston went 14-0 during the season. In the state tournament, the Wildcats defeated teams from New Haven, Milford and Woodbridge to reach the finals. Weston did not lose a set until the finals, where it defeated a team from Shippan Racquet Club of Stamford.
Four teams from Weston qualified for the state tournament. Sarah Greisman of Weston took home the Sportsmanship Award in the 18-and-under division. Olivia Wen went 5-0 in the state finals, while Vivian Wenn, Chandlee, Visser and Dave had only one loss.
The Wildcats play out of Weston Racquet Club and are also coached by Angelo Rossetti, the clubs tennis director.
