WESTON, Conn. Scrimmages are done and the fall sports season begins for real, as Weston High School athletic teams play their first games Tuesday. Other opening games continue throughout the week.
Below is the schedule for opening games for Weston High School.
Tuesday
The boys and girls cross country teams open the season for the Trojans, hosting Immaculate, Brookfield and New Milford in a 4:30 p.m. meet.
The defending Class S state champion girls swimming and diving team hosts Oxford at the Weston Middle School pool in a 4:30 p.m. meet.
The field hockey team hosts Masuk at 6:30 p.m. The Trojans went 2-12-1-1 last season.
Wednesday
The girls soccer team travels to Immaculate for a 4:45 p.m. game. Weston went 7-9 last season.
The girls volleyball team hosts Pomperaug at 5:30 p.m. to start its season. The Trojans were 9-8 last season, reaching the second round of the Class M state tournament.
The boys soccer team hosts Immaculate at 6:45 p.m. Weston went 8-4-4 in 2011, advancing to the second round of the Class M state tournament.
Saturday
The Weston High football team hosts Notre Dame-Fairfield at 1 p.m. to kick off its season. The Trojans went 7-3 last year, narrowly missing the Class S state playoffs.
