Newtown outscored Weston, 7-4, in the second half to pull away for a 13-9 boys lacrosse victory in a South-West Conference game Thursday at Weston.
Weston trailed 6-5 at halftime. Newtown took an 8-5 lead into the fourth quarter and held off the Trojans. With the loss, Weston fell to 10-5 overall and 9-3 in the SWC. The game was Senior Night at Weston, and the Trojans' regular-season finale. Newtown improved to 14-2 overall and 12-0 in the SWC.
Jack Scheufele, Richie Miller, Lyle Mitchell and Peter Robbins had two goals each for Weston. Joey Falci added one. Scheufele had two assists, and Robbins had one. Goalie Alex Peyreigne made 14 saves. Justin Brophy scored six goals for Newtown. Weston will play in the SWC playoffs next week.
