The Staples High School boys' soccer team dominated the competition en route to its third consecutive Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference title , defeating Fairfield Warde. Now the league is honoring some members of the championship squad, with four Wreckers named to the all-FCIAC first team, the most of any school.
Defenders Frank Bergonzi and Sean Gallagher and midfielders Greg Kudis and Brendan Lesch highlighted the first team honors. Lesch scored the winning goal in the FCIAC title game.
Class L state champion New Canaan had three players named to the first team, including Scott Levene, Jon-Luke Ferrandino and Rory Shepard. Norwalk also featured three first-team players, including Danny Quintero, Andres Torres and Jake Zuniga.
The rest of the all-FCIAC team was rounded out with Greenwich's Izzie Hernandez and Spencer Tanaka, Wilton's Mike DeSantis and Graham Parsons, Westhill's Mateo Gallego and Henry Bareiss, Fairfield Warde's Oliver DeBarros and Connor Garvey, McMahon's Alexandros Petridis, and Fairfield Ludlowe's Luke Clifford.
