Staples' boys soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to 12 Monday with a 4-0 victory over Ridgefield. Greg Gudis, Jake Krosse, Court Lake and Lorenz Esposito scored goals for Staples, which has gone 11-0-1 since suffering consecutive losses early in the season. Staples is 12-2-1 overall.
Gudis scored on a header in the first half, and the Wreckers finished the Tigers off with three goals within a five-minute span in the second half. Mikey Scott, Brendan Lesch, Frankie Bergonzi and Jake Malowitz added assists for Staples.
The Wreckers finish the regular season Wednesday against Bassick. Staples will likely be the No. 2 seed for the FCIAC tournament, which begins Friday. Norwalk will enter the tournament as the top seed. Staples will have a home game in the first round of the FCIAC tournament on Friday. The second round will be played Monday at Fairfield Ludlowe.
