Staples' baseball team and the Staples Diamond Club will host Youth Baseball Night Friday. The evening is in conjunction with the Westport Little League. Game time is 4:30 p.m. and the field is located behind the school.
Youth baseball players are encouraged to wear their team uniforms, and bring their mitts and batting helmets. Youths will have a chance to be a game announcer for an inning, a Staples bat boy for an inning or a foul line ball boy. Additionally, all youths will be invited to run the bases after the game and meet the players and coaches. Prizes will be raffled off and refreshments will be available at the concessions stand.
Staples will also host the Fan Fest Skills Competition at Coley Fenced Field on Sunday. The event is for Little League players in grades 3-7. Players will test their skills in various contests run, judged and instructed by the Staples players. Activities will include: home run derby/hitting, throwing accuracy, pitching velocity, baserunning, and around the horn throwing. Find out more information on the Staples baseball website.
