Staples High School boys and girls finished second to Danbury High on Saturday at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Western Division championships. The host Wreckers compiled 132 points in the boys meet, while Danbury finished with 167. In the girls meet, Staples picked up 128, while the Hatters scored 153.
Staples' Ingrid Johnson set a school record in winning the 600, running 1:39:36. Staples' other winners in the girls races included Lexie Schachne in pole vault, Caroline Koenig in 3,200 meters, Georgia Kursten in 1,600 meters, Kelley Hussey in the 50 and the 4 x 200 meter relay team of Turner Block, Kelly Bohling, Elizabeth Driscoll and Hussey.
In the boys' races, winners included Raphael Ray in the 300 and the boys 4 x 400 relay of Max Hoberman, Jeff Caffery, Walker Marsh and Ray.
