Staples Boys' Track Honored At Hall of Fame Dinner

WESTPORT, Conn. – Staples boys' track and field teams, who won indoor and outdoor championships at the league and state levels earlier this year, will be honored as the Westport Sports Person of the Year Monday at the Fairfield County Hall of Fame dinner.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

Led by veteran coach Laddie Lawrence, the Wreckers won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, Class LL and State Open titles during the indoor season. They won the league and class crowns in the spring, and took second in the State Open.

Staples also won New England honors in the 4 x 400 relay during the outdoor season. The Wreckers were led by Henry Wynne, currently a senior. He won the 1,600 at the New England championships and was on the winning 4 x 400 relay.
