Sportswriting Legend Frank Deford To Visit Westport Public Library

WESTPORT, Conn. – An acclaimed sports journalist whose work over the past 36 years has been collected for a new book is set to speak at the Westport Public Library on Wednesday, June 8.

Frank Deford has been hailed as the “Sinatra of sportswriting” by the San Francisco Chronicle and “the world’s greatest” by GQ magazine.

His new book, “I’d Know That Voice Anywhere,” is a collection of his best work from across the world of sports.

Copies of the book will be available during the June 8 event, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The author will discuss the work and sign copies for those in the audience.

Deford's accolades and honors are many. He has authored 19 books and serves as is a senior contributing writer at Sports Illustrated, a regular commentator for NPR’s “Morning Edition” and a correspondent for HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.” His presence at the library is being co-sponsored by Cohen and Wolf, P.C.

The Westport Public Library is located at 20 Jesup Road. Deford is to appear in the building’s McManus Room.
