WESTPORT, Conn. Kids who want to test their athletic endurance can start signing up now for the third annual Westport-Weston Family Y Strong Kids Triathlon. The three-part competition for kids 2 to 15 takes place Sunday, Sept. 23, beginning at 9 a.m. at Staples High School.
Kids 7 to 10 swim 75 meters, bike 1 mile and run a half-mile starting at 9. Ages 10 to 15 swim 150 meters, bike 2 miles and run 1 mile starting a 10 a.m. And kids 2 to 6 can compete in a 100-meter dash at 11 a.m.
The entry fee is $25 ($30 day of race) and $10 for the 100-meter dash. Advance registration online at the Westport Family Y's website is recommended. On-site registration takes place the day of the event from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Participants will compete for age group awards, and each child will receive a participant medal. The triathlon raises awareness and money for the Strong Kids Campaign, the Y's annual fundraising effort.
