Cristiano joins classmates Chile Larraguibel, to attend Pomona College in California, and Isaac Manton, to attend Hartwick College in New York, as the third Dragon senior to announce his plans to play basketball in college.
Based on scouting reports, GFA also has three juniors — Sunday Okeke of Darien, Elvin Rodriguez of Harlem, N.Y., and Evan Roteman of Chappaqua, N.Y. — who will also be recruited to play college ball next year.
Cristiano was an All New England Prep School player and an All Fairchester Athletic Association selection in the 2015-16 season. He lives in Vahalla, N.Y.
Greens Farms has now placed 11 players into the college basketball ranks since head coach Doug Scott took over the program in the 2010-11 season. That list includes the following players:
- Dan Chase, '11, at Colby College
- Brien Comey, '12, at Kenyon College
- Sean Obi, '13, at Duke University
- Hunter Eggers, '13, at Franklin & Marshall
- Pat Ryan, '13, at Elon University
- Matt Tate, '14, at Franklin & Marshall
- Zach Baines, '15, at Middlebury College)
- Jim Djema, '15, at Suffolk University
"As much as things have changed in this world of ours, the one thing that keeps paying off is hard work," Scott said. "These young men have all made the investment in themselves to be great in both the classroom and in the gym. It is a honor to be associated with every one of them."
