With a time of 16 minutes, 46.9 seconds, the winning women’s youth 8+ bested by nearly three seconds a 2010 record for the 5-kilometer course, which winds along Boston’s Charles River.

Earlier, the SRC’s women’s youth 4+ turned in a performance that earned them second place out of the 85 boats competing in their event.

On the SRC junior men’s side, Silviu Tudor raced to a fourth-place finish in the men’s youth singles category, earning a medal.

“It’s rare for a club to repeat as champions at the Head of the Charles Regatta,” said Sharon Kriz, SRC junior director and boys head coach.

The SRC men’s youth 8+ finished 13th out of 85 boats, moving up nine places from their original seeding. Among the rowers in the SRC crew were Oliver Bub and Lucas Manning, who represented the United States at the 2015 World Junior Rowing Championships in August in Rio de Janeiro.

“Only three rowers in our women’s youth 8+ gold medal boat competed with the winning crew last year,” said Gordon Getsinger, SRC girls head coach. “It was promising to see the younger athletes step up and for the group as a whole to turn in such an impressive performance.”

The winning SRC boats included:

  • Women’s Youth 4+ (silver) – Camila Meyer-Bosse, Westport; Isabelle Grosgogeat, coxswain, Westport; Elisabeth O’Brien, Darien; Sophie Pendrill, Scarsdale, N.Y.; Imogen Ratcliffe, Westport.
