WESTON, Conn. – Three hundred fifteen runners and many spectators enjoyed Weston's first half-marathon, the Reservoir Run, which took place Sunday morning under warm, sunny skies.

Jason Dufour, 39, of Bristol finished first in 1:20. The first woman finisher was Meade Fogel, 33, of Fairfield in 1:31. Weston's fastest runner was Andrew Aspen, 36, who finished 14th overall in 1:30.

The race had been postponed from Nov. 4 because of conditions caused by Hurricane Sandy. Police took precautions, driving ahead of the runners to warn them of oncoming traffic.

The course wound through Weston's most scenic areas, passing the Saugatuck Reservoir on Valley Forge Road before moving on to Lyons Plains Road. The most difficult part of the course came near the end, with a steep hill on Weston Road taking runners to the finish at Weston High School.

"It was a great course. Running along the reservoir was very inspiring," said Dale Sweeney of New Canaan, who finished in 2:21. Sweeney ran the Hartford Marathon and three other half-marathons, in Fairfield, Milford and Ridgefield, this year. She said Weston's course was the most beautiful because of the reservoir, "but it was also difficult because of the hill at the end."

Sandra Lee, an injured veteran being assisted by Purple Heart Homes, an organization that retrofits homes for wounded veterans, sang at the ceremony following the race. Purple Heart Homes is one of three charitable organizations that received race proceeds.
