WESTON, Conn. – Peter’s Spirits won its third title in four years in the Weston Women’s Softball League with a 10-8 victory over No Mercy in the recent championship game.

Peter’s took a 4-0 lead in the first inning with the help of consecutive hits from Kelly Saltzgaber, Val Saltzman, Julie Baisley and Heidi Keeney.

No Mercy responded and built a 7-4 lead in the fourth inning. Peter’s regained the lead in the fifth as Saltzgaber delivered the key hit. Player/manager Kathleen O’Connell drove home an insurance run in the sixth.

No Mercy sliced the lead with a home run by Allie DiMauro, and got within two with a run in the seventh. Peter’s pitcher Jen Platek struck out the final batter to set off the celebration for Peter’s.

Lauren Abrams, Heidi Keeney and Jackie Spitzer made defensive gems for Peter’s and DiMauro for No Mercy.
