Pair Of Norwalk Rowers Cap Off Youth Career By Winning Gold

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — A pair of rowers from the Connecticut Boat Club in Norwalk capped off their high school careers by winning gold at 2017 USRowing Youth National Championships.

And now the two women will head to Stanford University in the fall to compete on the women's crew team there. 

Julia Cornacchia of Darien and Kaitlyn Kynast of Ridgefield won gold in the pair division earlier this month at the youth national championships in in Sarasota, Fla. It was their second year in a row to win gold in the event, the first time that repeat has ever happened.   

They won by over 20 seconds, dominating the race throughout. 

Each also celebrated another milestone in June: Cornacchia graduated from Darien High School, and Kynast graduated from Ridgefield High School.
