WESTPORT, Conn. No new information was available as of 10 a.m. Monday regarding the triathlete pulled from the water during Sundays Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon, representatives of Norwalk Hospital and Targetraining said.
The Wallingford man, who is in his 60s, was unconscious when he was pulled to shore by Sherwood Island lifeguards. His identity was not released. A spokesperson with Targetraining hoped to provide an update later Monday.
The triathlete experienced difficulty during the half-mile swim, which is the opening leg of the event. Medical personnel administered CPR on the beach before he was taken to Norwalk Hospital. The race is sponsored by Targetraining.
