Nigerian Transplant, Now A Star Westport Athlete, Dreams Of Helping Others

WESTPORT, Conn. -- It’s a long shot from Lagos, Nigeria to Westport,  but one a young basketball star made with the help of a coach, and a man who posted a video of him on YouTube, according to a report on Westport-news.com.

Sunday Okeke, a power forward for the Green Farms Academy's Dragons, grew up in Nigeria and is a rising basketball star at the Westport school. .

Sunday Okeke, now a 6-foot-8-inch power forward at Green Farms Academy, had a hard-knock life growing up in the African republic, where he played soccer and studied hard, the Westport-news.com story said.

Someone at the prep school spotted Okeke on the video, and the rest, as they say, is history, the Westport-news.com reported.

Okeke, a junior who now plays for the prep school’s Dragons, is being recruited by several Ivy League schools, but his real dream is to be a psychologist so he can help others, the Westport-news.com story said.
