Westport's Dylan Murray finished fourth Thursday in the AJGA Apawamis Junior at The Apawamis Club in Rye, N.Y., shooting a final round 74, seven strokes behind winner Bennett Lavin of Deerfield, Ill.
Several other golfers from Fairfield County also played in the event, which was sponsored by the American Junior Golf Association. Greenwich's Theo Humphrey finished 10th after a final round 76. Other area players with their third-round scores and overall finish include: New Canaan's Brian Tohir (20th, 76); Greenwich's Danny Guise (27th, 85); New Canaan's Christopher Swift (28th, 76); Weston's Joseph D'Amato (32nd, 78); Greenwich's Stephen Pastore (32nd, 82); Greenwich's Tommy Halpern (38th, 239); Darien's Conor McGovern (47th, 80); Westport's Kirk Massie (47th, 84); and Westport's Brian Wolgast (52nd, 85).
In the girls' competition, Greenwich's Brooke Nethercott (eighth, 79) led area finishers. Anne Troy of Stamford finished 20th after a final round 86.
