WESTPORT, Conn. – The team of Leela Narang, Stina Steinberg, Jean Ryan and Susan Hess won the member-guest tournament conducted by the Longshore Women’s Golf Association. The foursome carded a 67 gross to win by five strokes in the 52nd annual tournament.
Jane Dally, Dana Barnes, Pat Norton and Laurie White finished second with a 72, while Carol Ross, Marcy Royster, Jean Murdoch and Ruth Guden also shot 72.
In the net division, Wendy Montanaro, Kristin Montanaro, Sue Ostermueller and Nancy Pondelik won with a 49. Two groups tied for second with a net score of 50. Those foursomes included Susan Davis, Carol Percival, Pam Gannon and Kathryn Gallagher in one group and Jane Rubenstein, Irene Cohen, Alison Ashman and Jane Orlin in the other. The team of Suzanne Goldstein, Sylvia DeLange, Dotty Myers and Ann Marie Myers shot 51 net.
The victory added another trophy to the collection of Narang, the club champion in 2011, who shot 78 in the member-guest despite being 8½ months pregnant.
The tournament was a best-ball format and Topsy Siderowf and Susan Davis served as the co-chairwomen.
