WESTPORT, Conn. – The Greens Farms Academy girls tennis team roared through the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class C tournament to win the title over the weekend.
The Dragons defeated Bancroft School of Worcester, Mass. In the finals. Greens Farms defeated Canberbury School of New Milford and Winsor School of Boston in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The Dragons did not drop a set en route to the title.
This is the first year that the council has sanctioned a New England Tournament for girls tennis. The tournament was divided into three divisions -- A, B or C -- based on school size. Greens Farms earned the No. 1 seed in the C Division.
Greens Farms is 15-2, with both of its losses to A Division schools -- Greenwich Academy and Hotchkiss. Both of GFA’s losses were by one point.
