EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Chris Thomas finished 12th overall and qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii later this year in Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 Eagleman in Cambridge, Md.
Thomas finished fourth among amateurs in the event, which included a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run. Thomas finished in 4:08:34 and won his age group by nearly eight minutes. He was the top Masters (40-and-over) finisher.
He finished fourth in the world at last year’s race in Kona and was the top American finisher. The event will be Oct. 12.
Thomas will race this weekend in the Pat Griskus Triathlon in New Preston, an Olympic-distance event he has won for the past six straight years.
Thomas is the owner of Personal Training Professionals in Southport.
