Dumas has played in all 25 games for Hartwick (18-7). She has started 21 times, and is averaging 14.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Her 53.4 field goal percentage ranks 22nd among Division III players in the U.S.

“Brittney is our most athletic player and she’s tough to defend with her ability to post, drive and step out and hit big shots,” coach Missy West said. “She has had some big games for us on the offensive end and has been able to score at a high percentage from the floor.  Brittney still has a lot of growth and maturity ahead of her in all aspects of her game and she has not even come close to her potential. We are excited to see what the next three years bring for her.”

Hartwick junior Maria Foglia was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year. It is the first time in conference history two players from the same school have won Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors.

Dumas had 14 points and seven rebounds in Harwick’s 65-32 win over Alfred last Saturday. Dumas and teammate Kate Purcell were named to Empire 8 second team all-conference.

Hartwick plays Stevens Institute of Technology Friday in the semifinal of the Empire 8 conference tournament. The winner advances to Saturday’s championship game. The winner of the tournament advances to the Division III NCAA Tournament.
