The Greens Farms Academy boys tennis team dropped a 1-6 decision to a talented and deep Cheshire Academy squad Saturday. Against the stiff competition, the Dragons made good adjustments and played some terrific points.
Darien junior Eric Walsh, GFA's only winner, battled to a well-earned victory, 7-5, 6-4. He was impressive and confident from the baseline and the net in the big points. Senior Freddie Mezidor of Bridgeport also hooked up in a fantastic match at No. 4 singles in a match in which both players ground out points from baseline to baseline. In the end, Mezidor came up a few points short, 5-7, 4-6. The Dragons record is 6-3. They will face the Masters School in a league match home Wednesday.
