WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Weston Family Y’s 34th annual Point-to-Point Compo Beach Swim – one of Westport’s longest-running annual sporting events – will take place July 15. Registration and check-in begin at 8 a.m. The race begins at 9:30 a.m.

Starting at the cannons at Compo Beach, participants swim around buoys, ending with a sprint across the sand to the finish line, covering a distance of one mile.

The annual Point-to-Point open-water swim, which last year drew more than 120 participants, including competitors from New York, New Jersey and all of New England, is separated into three heats based on predicted finish times. This year’s event also will include a “Kids’ Swim,” a fun, shallow-water event for young participants.

The Kids’ Swim will be at 10:15 am and will be followed by the awards ceremony for all participants. The advance registration fee for Point-to-Point is $35; entrants can register online at www.westporty.org or in person at the Family Y through July 13. The fee for the Kids’ Swim is $15. All proceeds help support the Family Y’s annual fundraising effort, the Strong Kids Campaign.

Swimmer check-in and day-of-race registration ($45) begin at 8 a.m. 15 at Compo Beach, the Town of Westport’s 29-acre public park on Long Island Sound. Non-resident registered swimmers and spectators will be allowed into the park free of charge for the duration of the race.
