Connor Bohling has one scholarship offer to play football at Tulane University. The recent Staples grad is hoping more will start to develop over the next few months.
Bohling has decided to attend Hotchkiss School in Connecticut in the fall. The offensive tackle could end up accepting Tulane's offer. More offers could be on the way if he plays well at Hotchkiss. Bohling earned first team All-Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference honors as a senior. He missed all of his junior season with a neck injury.
"The main reason to go to a prep school is it opens more doors for me,'' Bohling said. "I want to be successful in the classroom and become more prepared for college physically and academically. It's great to have the offer from Tulane. You never know what can happen in the next few months."
An unusual aspect of spring for Bohling was not running, lifiting and preparing for the upcoming high school season. As the Staples underclassmen went through their drills, Bohling and other seniors worked out on their own. "Since eighth grade we start lifting, and it was really weird to see them doing spring football and not be a part of it,'' Bohling said. "It's weird to see them and know that you're not going to be out there next year."
After Bohling gets started at Hotchkiss, he hopes to make a quick decision on his college plans. "Hopefully I'll make a decision as early as October,'' Connor says. "I'm definitely making a decision sometime in the fall."
