WESTON, Conn. The Aspetuck Wildcats 12-and-under cheerleading team made all the right moves Sunday in taking third place in a Colonial League competition at Newtown High School.
The team's combined placement and score qualifies it to compete in state and regional competitions in November.
The Wildcats are coached by Kathie Fitzgerald along with volunteers Janet Hoffman and Carina Silvestri. High school student demonstrators Megan Fitzgerald, Sarah Biedermann, Katherine Stauffer, Carrie Agosti and Jen Riccio put together the winning routine. Team members include girls from Easton, Redding and Weston.
The Aspetuck 13-and-under team won first place in its division and was named the grand champion of the meet by scoring the highest among all age divisions.
