WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport eighth-graders Louis Colosimo, Ryan Fitton and Nick Roehm have been invited to play for the Southwest Connecticut all-star team in the Football University National Championship.
Football University is an invitation-only training program for the nation's most elite seventh- through 12th-graders.
The Connecticut team is led by Coach Ron Marsilio, who is also a coach in the Westport Police Athletic League football program. On Saturday, the team defeated the New York City team, 35-6, and on Sunday it won a second round game against Long Island, 28-0.
The team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to face the Massachusetts team on Saturday, and either the Maryland or Chicago team on Sunday. If the team wins both games, they will go on to play in the National Championship game in San Antonio on Jan. 4.
This fall, Louis, Ryan and Nick were members of the Westport PAL eighth-grade football team.
