WESTPORT, Conn. – Whether it’s off to college, or taking a year off to travel or explore other opportunities, members of the Staples High School Class of 2012 have big plans for the future.

Last week, 424 seniors received their diplomas and officially became Staples alumni. Most of the graduates are planning to continue their education this fall at various higher education institutions, according to a list compiled by Inklings, the student-run newspaper. A handful of students plan to take a gap year, or a year off, before starting college.

According to the list, the University of Connecticut is the most popular choice amongst the graduates, with 21 students headed there this fall. The University of Michigan ranks at No. 2 with 15 graduates headed there. Twelve graduates are going to Boston University, making it the third most popular choice.

The list does not include plans for all 424 students, but shares plans of those who cared to share. To see the list, visit the Inklings website.
