“There is no easy way to say thank you and goodbye to someone as special as Laurie Linton,” said Tony McDowell, executive director of Earthplace, “but I am proud to say that Laurie is leaving the school in terrific shape.”

Earthplace now has expanded hours and programs for working families, a new five-year National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation, increased classroom space, and full enrollment for the coming year.

With a strong endorsement from Linton, members of the board, and staff, the school is announce the appointment of Borys as new director of the school beginning on June 1.

Borys has been an educator for 17 years and has taught at every level from preschool to fifth-grade. In her current role as assistant director of the school, she plans and leads staff meetings, hires and coaches staff, and teaches in the fives classroom. Borys is also the Earthplace Summer Camp director and was the driving force in establishing the new After School Enrichment Program for kindergarten through fifth-grade.

“I have observed Amee in her many roles and am always impressed by her calm consideration — with children, staff, or parents — which sets the tone for others to follow,” said McDowell.

Borys earned a master’s degree in education from Fordham University where she also spent her undergraduate years. Borys also recently completed her director’s credentials in early childhood education.

“Laurie did an incredible job building this school into the excellent program we have today." Borys said "I am honored to take the reins from her and further the legacy of a curriculum built on exploration and discovery that she has created.”
