WESTPORT, Conn. Westport sixth-grader Charlie Colasurdo was one of three students to win the 14th annual Paleo-Knowledge Bowl at the Yale Peabody Museum on Sunday.
The Paleo-Knowledge Bowl is an oral competition in which teams of students from across the state are quizzed on paleontology, which is the study of prehistoric life. The competition is open to students in grades 4 to 6.
Charlie, a student at Coleytown Middle School, and his teammates Novad Jayawardhane and Dalton DiCamillo of Wilton, beat 19 other teams that competed.
The team received a trophy, family memberships to the Yale Peabody Museum and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Peabody's vertebrate paleontology collection. Each team member also won a rare fossil. The trophy will be displayed at the Wilton Library.
