Each school committee will be responsible for assisting in the development of a school security and safety plan for that school and administering the plan, representatives said.

"The Board of Education has determined that the membership of each school committee shall include two community members in addition to a local police officer, a local first responder, a teacher selected by the building principal, the building principal or assistant principal, and a parent with a student enrolled in the school," school officials said.

Those who are interested in serving on one of the school committees are asked to contact the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 110 Myrtle Avenue, Westport, CT 06880 in writing, by email at bkochiss@westport.k12.ct.us, or by telephone at 203-341-1025 or 203-341-1026 no later than March 31.
