WESTPORT, Conn. The threat of a strike by Westport school bus drivers was put to rest Saturday after the drivers union and the bus company agreed to a contract settlement, a company spokesperson announced.
As part of the agreement, a four-year contract between the bus company, Dattco, and the drivers was unanimously approved, the news release said.
The drivers were set to go on strike Monday , Oct. 1, after rejecting a previous contract settlement. By Sunday night, however, the strike was averted after the union and the bus company agreed to a "cooling off" period.
The possibility of a strike this Monday was announced Thursday by Westport Superintedent Elliott Landon.
