The vote will come at a meeting Monday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., according to a statement from school board Chairman Michael Gordon. The meeting will take place in Cafeteria B-Room 301 at Staples High School.

On Thursday, the Westport school board completed a site visit at the Weston Public Schools, where Palmer is currently the superintendent. Board members were joined at the site visit by Westport parents, teachers, administrators and elected officials from other town bodies.

They met in both smaller and larger groups with Weston school representatives, staff, parents and elected officials.

"With the site visit successfully completed, the board is ready to make the appointment of Dr. Palmer official," Gordon said in the statement Friday morning.

Palmer was named by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents as the Superintendent of the Year for 2016.

Weston High School, under Palmer’s leadership, was named the top Connecticut high school in 2015 and was ranked 47th nationally by Newsweek.

Westport Superintendent Elliott Landon is retiring at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
