WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Board of Education is seeking to fill a seat soon to be left open when Trustee Brett Aronow resigns, according to a statement from the school district.
The board will appoint a registered Democrat to fill Aronow's position until an election can be held in November of next year, the district said.
According to the board, anyone interested in the position must:
- Be a registered Democrat.
- Be willing to be interviewed separately by the Democratic Town Committee and the Board of Education.
- Be willing to serve and attend board meetings immediately upon appointment.
According to the statement, an appointment could be made as soon as early October.
Aronow, who has served on the board for the past four years, intends to officially resign from her position on Monday, Sept. 26, according to the Westport News, which reported that she is moving out of the school district.
Anyone interested in serving on the Board of Education should submit a letter of application to Westport Board of Education Secretary Elaine Whitney at email@example.com by 5 p.m. Sept. 26.
