WESTPORT, Conn. -- Students at Coleytown Elementary School are a step closer to being cooler in their gym and auditorium after the Westport Board of Finance approved $290,000 on Wednesday., Jan. 13, to install air conditioning, according to the Westport News.
Delayed for at least a decade, funding for the project is expected to win final approval the first week in February during the Representative Town Meeting. If approved, the air conditioning could be installed as early as spring, said the Westport News.
Parents of Coleytown students have been frustrated with the overheated facilities during the summer months; Christine Kurpiel, Coleytown PTA co-president, said she constantly received emails from parents concerned about students coming home sweating, added the Westport News.
