Bernardi has been Weston Middle School’s assistant principal since 2007. He recently accepted the job as principal of Rochambeau Middle School in Southbury, and will leave for his new position July 1.
““Michael has been an integral part of the strong, effective leadership of Weston Middle School over these past six years,” Superintendent Colleen Palmer said in a press release. “We have benefited from his expertise and talents, and wish him every success as he moves on to the role of principal.”
This summer’s transition will be the second change in administration at Weston Middle School in as many years. Principal Amy Watkins took over her position last summer.
The district’s human resources department will launch “a comprehensive and inclusive search process” for Bernardi’s replacement immediately, according to a Weston Public Schools press release. A new appointee would need to be approved by the Weston Board of Education.
The school board hopes to have a replacement lined up by the time of Bernardi’s departure. The district says is wants “to ensure that Weston Middle School finds the right candidate to carry on the work to support our students, staff, and families of our exemplary middle school.”
