Weston, Easton, Redding: Decorate Your Home, Win $1,000 School Grant

WESTON, Conn. – Weston, Easton and Redding families can win $1,000 grants for school anti-drug programs and new iPads by decorating their homes with an anti-drug message.

The National Family Partnership’s Red Ribbon Week, being held from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31 in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration, challenges families to decorate the front of their homes with this year's message: "The Best Me Is Drug Free.”

After you decorate your home, take a picture with your family and upload it to www.redribbon.org/contest or  www.facebook.com/RedRibbonWeek.

Then ask your friends and family to vote for your entry at www.redribbon.org/vote  from Nov. 2 to 16. Ten winners from regions across the United States will win. Winners will be announced at events at their winning schools in December.

“Students will once again take Red Ribbon Week’s message of prevention home to their neighborhoods with this national contest,” the partnership's Volunteer President Peggy Sapp said. “By decorating their homes together with this year’s Red Ribbon theme, families carry the message to their communities.”

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country, according to the partnership. After the murder of a federal drug agent in 1985, parents, youth and teachers in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs.
