WESTPORT, Conn. Staples High School seniors David Haswell and Constance Zhou are in the running to be named U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the highest honors for high school students.
The Presidential Scholars program recognizes some of the most distinguished graduating seniors in the country. Candidates chosen for the program are identified by their academic success, including SAT or ACT scores, leadership, and involvement in their schools and communities. About 3,000 students are selected as candidates each year.
As candidates, David and Constance must next submit essays, self-assessments and transcripts to be considered one of 141 students to be named U.S. Presidential Scholars.
