Team Westport Honors Two Staples High Grads With Scholarships

WESTPORT, Conn. – Two graduates of Staples High School were recognized by TEAM Westport Committee Chairman Harold Bailey for their leadership, which advanced the understanding of diversity in race, ethnicity, religion and/or sexual orientation in the community, a press release from the group said.

Russell Schindler and August Laska, both members of the Class of 2013, were recognized with scholarships.  Schindler is now a student at the University of Michigan, and Laska attends Middlebury College in Vermont.

“This year, both awards were dedicated in memoriam to Nicholas Rudd and Susan Killian, former TEAM Westport Committee members whose devotion and many contributions to TEAM Westport will always be appreciated,” said Bailey in a statement.
