Inklings , the Staples High School newspaper, is up for a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown Award. The only question is: Will it be gold or silver?
The newspaper, which has a staff of about 50, was recently named a High School Newspaper Crown finalist in the 2011 Crown Awards, organized by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Devin Skolnick, an executive editor of Staples, made the announcement in a news release.
In March, the newspaper will receive either a Gold or Silver Crown Award during the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's 87th annual convention at Columbia University.
According to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association website, a total of 1,434 newspaper, magazines and yearbooks published in the 2009-2010 school year were eligible for the 2011 Crown Awards program.
A total of 47 magazines, 51 newspapers and 72 yearbooks will receive Crown awards at the convention.
