Staples Senior Awarded Tuition Grant From Westport League Of Women Voters

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Jacqueline Chappo, a Staples High senior, was the recipient of the 2015 League of Women Voters of Westport’s Staples Tuition Grant, according to a press release.

The award of $2,000 was presented at the league’s annual meeting Wednesday, June 3, at the Norwalk Inn.

An active member of the Young Republicans Club for four years, Chappo served at its president the past two years. Her athletic pursuits have included the Staples ski team, serving as co-captain in her senior year, and as an active member of the track team throughout high school. She also is the current president of the German Club.

Next year, she will be attending Boston University and hopes to attend law school after graduation. As a participant in the senior internship program, she will be working at a local law office and hopes to continue throughout the following summer, according to a press release.

The League of Women Voters of Westport, now in its 66th year, is a non-partisan political organization of women and men that promotes informed and active participation in government and community, according to a press release. The league neither supports nor opposes any political party or candidate.
