“A Chorus Line” follows a group of dancers as they audition for a Broadway musical. The show starts out with 30 semi-finalists who are asked to perform a series of rigorous dance combinations. Of the 30, there are 16 dancers expected to move on to the next round of auditions. But in the end, only eight dancers — four men and four women — will make the cut.
“All of the emotions we were feeling at the time of the audition are what we have to feel and express as our character in the show,” said Staples junior Cara McNiff, who plays Sheila.
The musical, directed by David Roth and Kerry Long, opens March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Staples High School. Other performances are scheduled for March 16, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m.; March 17 at 3 p.m.; and March 21 at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults, and can be purchased online or at the door 30 minutes before showtime.
Parents are advised that the show may not be suitable for children due to adult language and subject matter.
